The green opened on 1st June and we operated 2 hour slots. As the main club was not open there were no toilet facilities which was not ideal but those with strong bladders coped!
The main club opened on 4th July but was closed Mondays & Tuesdays and on restricted hours the rest of the week. Bowlers took full advantage of the club facilities and green availability. We started to run Spoon Drives and Thursday afternoon roll ups – maintaining social distancing of course!
Our spoon drive on the 2nd August saw the return to the green of those members that had been shielding and 3 of the members that had been shielding took the top 3 places!
On 31st August the main club had a Craft Fair and we had an open day. The coaches had a very busy time and we had plenty of interest resulting in new members. So a very rewarding day.
The 5th September should have been club finals so we ran an all-day Australian Pairs competition instead. The committee generously and unanimously agreed to pay for lunch for all members and the weather was excellent. An enjoyable day was had by players and supporters alike.
The green will be kept open while the weather is still reasonable.
Let’s hope that things can get back to normal next year!
